Red, white and blue in four-wheel drive this Memorial Day 

 

Monroe Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram Superstore is proud to support the Spirit of Liberty Jeep Foundation's 'Crossing of America'.

 

The 'Crossing of America' will be making a stop at the Monroe Superstore in Monroe, Michigan at the end of July.  Everyone will be given the chance to drive one of these Jeeps and show their love for our country by helping those who have sacrificed so much.  It will be exciting to see who will drive these Jeeps into the Toledo Jeep Plant, birthplace of the Jeep Wrangler; and on our 18-obstacle Jeep Off Road Course.  The entire Five Star Team here at the Monroe Superstore is proud and excited to give back to our American Heroes who have given us so much.  Co-Owner, Ralph Mahalak Jr. said, "Everyone displays a level of patriotism during the Memorial Holiday Weekend?we at the Monroe Superstore try to show our love for America year round".

The 'Crossing of America' will begin on May 27, 2011 just prior to Memorial Day Weekend, aboard the deck of the USS Midway in San Diego Harbor, and concludes on Thursday, September 8, 2011, on the deck of the USS Intrepid in New York Harbor. The closing ceremony of 'The Crossing of America' will mark the 10th Anniversary of 9/11. The tour will travel over 12,700 miles through 43 states and the District of Columbia during its 105-day trip.

The 'Crossing of America', will capture the imagination of millions of Americans, and along the route, the two Spirit of Liberty Jeeps will be the most celebrity-driven vehicles ever, being driven by high-profile Celebrities, Sports Figures, Government Officials, Veterans, POWs, Medal of Honor recipients, and Family Members of Fallen Heroes along with UAW Members, select Jeep Dealers, and Toledo Jeep Plant Personnel.

Since its inception, Jeep's contribution to the US Armed Forces is legendary, having carried such military legends as Generals Dwight D. Eisenhower and George S. Patton.  Thus, it's only fitting that it would be the go-to brand for this latest mission.

2011 marks the 45^th Anniversary of the Monroe Superstore, the 70^th Anniversary of Jeep, and the 10^th Anniversary of 9/11.

 Red, white and blue in four-wheel drive this Memorial Day

 The Spirit of Liberty Foundation and The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) unveiled two Spirit of Liberty Jeeps aboard the USS Midway Museum in San Diego. The vehicles, wrapped in a flag motif by automobile artist Kiwi Terry, were designed to honor the men and women of our Armed Forces and their families.

But their journey has just begun.

Beginning on Memorial Day weekend in 2011, the Jeeps will leave San Diego for a cross-country tour, covering 12,700 mile and visiting 43 states and the District of Columbia along the way. Their destination? The New York Harbor to mark the 10th anniversary of September 11th on the Intrepid Aircraft Carrier.

"This effort will raise awareness of these American heroes and their families and bring attention to their needs and raise funds that are so greatly needed," says Richard Rovsek, chairman of marketing firm M2000, who is spearheading the effort. "All of the money raised [through the campaign] will go directly to support the wounded warriors, and their families, and the families of fallen heroes."

During the journey, folks will be able to bid on the two Jeeps while Jeep Wranglers with the Spirit of Liberty motif will be available for purchase from the Monroe Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram Superstore.  And for an interesting twist, several celebrities, sports figures, politicians and wounded warriors and their families will drive the Jeep along the way. So far, Harrison Ford and astronaut Alan Bean have committed to the journey.

"We have commitments from high-profile Americans who have agreed to drive the Spirit of Liberty Jeep across America," explains Rovsek. "Part of the value of the vehicles is they will be the most celebrity driven vehicles ever."
